Join Us for Outdoor Tai Chi and Qigong at Duke Street Park, Formby (Weather Permitting)

Looking for a wonderful way to start your summer mornings? Come along to our outdoor Tai Chi sessions every Thursday this summer from 10.00 – 11.00 am at Duke Street Park, Formby. No need to book – just drop in!

Weekly Classes

Our sessions run weekly for seven weeks, from July 4th to August 15th. Each class is a perfect blend of gentle Qigong and Tai Chi movements, designed for all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, you’ll feel right at home. Plus, you can join as few or as many classes as you like to fit your summer schedule.

Class Details

 

Dates: Every Thursday morning from July 4th to August 15th

Time: 10.00 – 11.00 am

Location: Duke Street Park, Formby. Meet Amanda at the green picnic table by the rose garden, at the east end of the park (the opposite end of the park to the tennis courts and bowling club)

Cost: Adults £5 per class. Free taster available on request.

Children: Free (must be accompanied by a participating adult)

Parking: Street parking is usually available on Phillip’s Lane and the nearby streets.

Convenience: No booking required! Just drop in and enjoy the session.

Public Transport: Easy walking distance from Formby Train Station.

Is Tai Chi and Qigong safe for everyone?

While Tai Chi and Qigong are gentle and suitable for most people, if you have any concerns about whether these exercises are safe for you, please consult your doctor before attending.

What happens if the weather is bad?

As this is an outdoor event with no shelter, sessions will be cancelled if the weather is too wet, windy, or scorching hot. Please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

What should I wear?

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat, supportive shoes such as trainers. Don’t forget to bring a drink and a sunhat (and maybe a waterproof!). Dress appropriately for the weather, as this is an outdoor event.

What can I expect from the sessions?

Each class includes gentle Qigong and Tai Chi movements, focusing on mindful movements and breath work. These exercises help stretch and expand the body, release tension, calm the mind, and improve balance and dexterity.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is usually street parking available on Phillip’s Lane.

Who can join?

Everyone is welcome! No experience is necessary. Tai Chi and Qigong are gentle forms of exercise suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Can children join?

Yes, children are free to join but must be accompanied by a participating adult.

How much do the classes cost?

The first class on July 4th is a FREE taster. Subsequent classes cost £5 each. Payments can be made in cash, by cheque, or via BACS.

Do I need to book in advance?

No need to book! All classes are drop-in, so you can join us whenever it suits you. Come to as many or as few sessions as you like.

Where is the meeting point?
